Shopify’s New Automated Gifting Process: Lookbooks
Automated Gifting With Lookbooks
ShopMy’s Lookbooks feature streamlines the gifting process for brands and creators. Brands can effortlessly create digital product catalogs and send them to targeted influencers and creators can conveniently select the product they want to try. This approach simplifies product seeding, boosts engagement and significantly reduces waste in the influencer industry. See an overview of the feature here.
An All Inclusive Guide to Lookbooks:
How Does the Automated Process Work?
Building Your Lookbook
- Select Gifting, then click on Lookbooks and New Lookbook.
- Customize your Lookbook with a unique title, description and cover image.
- Click Add Product, browse the product catalog and add items to your Lookbook by clicking the plus sign.
- Through our Shopify integration, all product sizes and variation will automatically populate.
- Click Settings.
- Responsible for Placing Order: Choose between Shopify for automated Lookbook order or Your Team for manual order placement.
- Country Restrictions: Toggle the United States radio button to restrict Lookbook access to creators residing outside the US.
- Set Your Lookbook Item Limits:
If you click on Set Item Limit you will be taken to a popup that allows you to set a price limit or an item limit. The price limit adds up the price of the items selected by creators and limits them from spending over a certain amount. The item limit, puts a cap on the number of items a creator can select. As a brand you can set a price limit and an item limit and whichever the creator hits first will be their limiting factor.
Brands can now set item limits for particular products, which can be useful if they’re worried about a certain item running out of stock. To do this click on Edit Product >> View Advances Setting >> set your max order number >> Update Product.
Please note, If there is a product with a handful of variants / colors, the item limit has to be on the whole product. For example, if there is a blue shirt and a pink shirt and you want to set a limit of 10, it is a limit of 10 on the whole product (9 blue and 1 pink, 5 blue and 5 pink, etc).
Send Your Lookbook
- Click Send Gifting Request >> Add Recipient or List >> Select the list of creators you wish to gift by clicking the plus sign.
- Personalize your message to the selected group of creators, using variables like “Hi {{FIRSTNAME}}”
- Optionally, set a product deadline by selecting a date for expiration. Creators will be unable to select items after this date.
- Click Send Request.
After Your Lookbook is Sent
- Upon creator submission, a $0 order is generated in your brand’s POS system. All orders show an order amount for the subtotal, then a 100% discount will be applied so the total amount will show $0.For Shopify brands, this process is automated; for others, orders remain pending until manually placed.
- Each customized tag will get added to all lookbooks
- Custom tags only apply for order going forward from when the customize tag was added
- Tags will get added if a gifting request is accepted post customized tag being added. For example, lookbook got sent out last week, brand adds a customize tag this week, a gifting request is accepted from the send out last week, the tag will be there

- With Shopify integration, tracking information is sent to creators once orders ship. For manual orders, provide the tracking link to creators.
- Creators can generate affiliate links from the order status page and are prompted to link their social media accounts if not already done.
By default, we set line item prices in Shopify Lookbook orders to true item prices, and then apply an order-level discount of 100%. This is to ensure that the order subtotal is accurate, and to allow you to report on the true value of gifted items.
Depending on your accounting practices, you may want us to set Shopify line item prices for Lookbook gifting to $0 instead. For international orders, we must still set line item prices to a non-zero value to comply with international tax laws and customs regulations. International orders will be set at $1.
You can find the setting in account settings under the Shopify configuration section.
All ShopMy Lookbook orders will by default have both a “ShopMy” tag, “Lookbook” tag, and a tag with the title of the Lookbook so you can filter accordingly in Shopify. Now brands can add a customized tag within the account settings of the ShopMy account as well. Shopify has a 40 character limit on tags so if the custom tag exceeds the limit then the '<lookbook title> lookbook' tag will get filtered out. The "ShopMy" tag is uneditable and always is present.
